We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals... We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far beneath ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animals shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught
with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.

Know the Law
On 6th April 2007 in England and Wales the law relating to the welfare of pets will change. Under the Animal Welfare Act UK as it will be known, anyone who is responsible for a pet will have a legal responsibility to meet the five basic welfare needs of pets. These are:
A proper diet, including fresh water
Somewhere suitable to live
Any need to be housed with or apart from, other animals
Allowing animals to express normal behaviour
Protect from and treatment of, illness and injury
Anyone seen to be breaking this law must be reported to the Police immediately. Attitudes will only change if we do something and take action.
Thank you
